Ruth Perrin on Resilient Faith

‘Resilient Faith’ explores findings ‘from a 2-year project exploring the shape and impact of their religious faith on millennial Christians living in Northeast England’.

Ruth Perrin builds on her earlier (2020) research on the faith lives of millennials ‘by examining the ongoing faith journey of that demographic group through the next decade’.

Six themes emerged from their accounts:

1. Maturing Millennial Faith: The desire to follow Jesus

2. How Faith Helps: The desire for hope and a future

3. Faith and Parenthood (or not): The desire for family

4. Faith and Friendship: The desire for deep connection

5. Millennials and Church: The desire for community

6. Faith and Purpose: The desire to bring about change

The report contains materials to facilitate discussion with millennials and consider practical implications from the findings.

See here for more details.

Here’s some brief blurb:

‘We live in divided times where religion is often seen as the problem.

‘But RE properly understood – as lifelong learning that goes beyond the school classroom – could help us heal our fractured society.

Our latest report by Hannah Rich explores the spaces and places where people of all ages can learn about religion outside the classroom.’

EAUK on Five Missional Trends for 2026

Phil Knox of the Evangelical Alliance UK shares five key missional trends churches should expect to see in 2026:

1. Look out for the spiritually open: 2026 will be the most spiritually open year in living memory.

2. Look out for the unexplained: 2026 will see spiritual experiences, dreams and unexplained events drawing thousands to church.

3. Look out for the gospel opportunities: 2026 will see the church needing to better join the dots between compassion ministry and faith sharing.

4. Look out for booming Bible engagement: 2026 will see Bible sales continue to soar with seekers turning up to church having done their theological research.

5. Look out for discipleship questions and challenges: 2026 will see more people come to faith through new pathways, so good answers about what’s next in their discipleship journey will be essential.

Those are the headlines. See here for slightly fuller reflections.

Mission Frontiers 48, 1 (January–February 2026)

The January–February 2026 issue of Mission Frontiers, published by Frontier Ventures, contains a number of articles devoted to the topic of ‘We are belongers before believers’.

Here’s the issue blurb, which sets the scene:

‘“We are belongers before we are believers.” If this is true, how must we then minister in frontier settings (and every setting, for that matter)? I think you’ll enjoy the diverse opinions and contexts our authors engage in this issue. We cover movements, Muslims, and Buddhists, the kingdom, the Bible, and history, those hurt by the church and those eager for discipleship. Dive in and consider what this means for your ministry.’

The issue is available here, from where individual articles can be accessed, and the entire issue can be downloaded as a pdf here.
